I’m happy to report a good start to the week. I had the pleasure of representing a client this morning at the Traffic Violations Bureau, the administrative court that handles vehicle and traffic tickets issued in the City of Rochester. My client was charged with two offenses: VTL 600(1)(a) – Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident and VTL 509(3) – Operating Outside of License Restrictions. The former charge carries three points if convicted; the latter is a non-moving offense that carries no points. Following the trial, the Leaving the Scene charge was dismissed and my client was only found guilty of the Operating Outside of Restrictions charge. No points for my client and a relatively reasonable fine and surcharge given the circumstances.
